Global Schoolroom

Global Schoolroom is a project bringing San Francisco Bay Area school children face to face with students in other countries by taking advantage of the advances in media technology. The program gives children a fun and creative way to introduce themselves to each other using video storytelling, live webcam conferences, and online discussion boards.

Global Schoolroom believes there is a great need to create cultural understanding among students across international lines. The curriculum that we are developing will ask students to produce short movies on topics designed to spark a dialogue. This highly unique and personal exchange between students, coupled with classroom discussions, will broaden each child’s perspective on the world. Short of spending time abroad, Global Schoolroom will offer one of the most effective ways for children to see the world of another child—through the images they choose to film, the stories they tell, and the questions they ask each other.
